Is DSO most accurately described as a "cover band" or a "tribute band"?

Guess I dont see a huge difference. Not all the members try to look like them. Either way ive never heard a band that plays dead that can pull off the best stuff

I don't know what you thought about the lead guitarist JOTS,but I first saw Jeff Mattson in 78' on Long Island in NY,and he was good then,I can only imagine that 33 years later he has improved with age and experience.I haven't seen him since the late 90's,but he is a skilled player and has the ability to play a wide variety of styles and genres,he is a talented acoustic player, having had an acoustic band with which he played for years,in which they covered all types of music.I couldn't begin to add up the number of different songs I saw him play, lets just say it was very impressive, and once again I haven't seen him in dozen years,so I am sure that catalog has grown. What I am getting at is he is a well rounded, top notch guitarist, and a genuinely nice person. Here is a video which gives a glimpse of his skill and fluidity.

I thought the guitarist was really good and didnt come across as trying to be Jerry either. Saw them in april and they did 5/11/72 and he totally pulled off a great dark star so how much better does it get? Imo their week link is bass but I think thats largely due to the mix

I agree. They need to turn him up in the mix more so we can critique his playing. Last time I saw them I thought he sounded well and was more up in the mix than regularly.
